EP: Atlantic 597, November 1957, b/w Doodlin’. See this.
Single (B): Atlantic 2068, July 1960, b/w Tell The Truth.
A moving piano blues, composed by Ray Charles. One could call it an instrumental version of A Fool For You.
Recorded on 20 November 1956 at the Capitol Recording Studios in New York with Joe Bridgewater, John Hunt – tp; David Newman – as, ts; Emmett Dennis – bs; William Peebles – d; Roosevelt Sheffield – b.
Jorgen Grunnet Jepsen, Jazz Records 1942-1965 stated, without further specification, that different takes have been issued of Sweet Sixteen Bars. The single version indeed is 2’06, while the album version is 4’02, but to me it’s unclear if this happened in the studio (2 takes) or just in the edit room.
