Ray Charles – vocal and piano (solo); J. Lloyd Miller – alto saxophone, oboe; Curtis Peagler – alto saxophone; Andy Ennis (solo), Albert McQueen, Clifford Scott – tenor saxophone; Leroy Cooper – baritone saxophone; Bobby Bryant, Bill King, Marshall Hunt, Blue Mitchell, trumpet; Glen Childress, Henry Coker, Joe Randazzo, (+ Edward Comegys? or Fred Murrell? or David Phelps?) – trombone; Ben Martin – guitar (solo); Edgar Willis – bass; Ernest Elly – drums.

The tune (penned by Ray Charles, featuring Andy Ennis on tenor saxophone) made it to #31 on the pop charts. We’ll probably never know which band members (also) contributed to the ‘backing vocals’.*

* Quincy Jones said: “Ray got to groovin’ so good on Booty Butt that he couldn’t resist sneakin’ in a little soulful hum, and that got so good he had to go back and overdub it a few times more. And if you think Ray Charles sounds good by himself, just imagine four of him singing together.”
