Album: Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music, ABC/Paramount 410, April 1962.
Single (B): ABC 10345, July 1962, b/w You Don’t Know Me.
The album was recorded on 5 and 7 February 1962 at the Capitol Studios in New York City, and on 15 February at the United Recording Studios in Hollywood.
The song was arranged by Gerald Wilson.
For the re-issue of the tune on the Dunhill Compact Classics CD Ray Charles – Greatest Country & Western Hits (DZS-040, 1988) Ray Charles and remastering engineer Steve Hoffman chose a “prev. unreleased take (3’35)”.
For the little that is known about the personnel, follow the link to the album description, above.
The single version was abbreviated (back to 2:57):
Album version:Update 28.01.2021: the video of this performance is no longer available on YouTube, please let me know in the comments below if you have any footage, thanks — Cyd
Remarkably, the tune ‘survived’ Ray’s rehab year (1965), and was longlisted in concert souvenir brochures from 1963 to 1964, and from 1966 to 1968.
